Schneider Electric at Interpack 2011

At interpack 2011, Schneider Electric will be highlighting its expertise as a supplier of fully integrated automation solutions for every aspect of packaging machinery design and construction.

Schneider Electric is one of the world’s leading automation solution providers for packaging machines, as clearly shown by the fact that hundreds of the machines being displayed in exhibits at interpack 2011 use Schneider Electric technology. Most of these machines are based on PacDrive technology, which is now part of a multi-controller platform with a standardized engineering workbench and a platform-neutral range of components.

At interpack 2011, Schneider Electric will be highlighting its expertise as a supplier of fully integrated automation solutions for every aspect of packaging machinery design and construction. At the core of this offering is ´MachineStruxure´, a solution package for general machinery applications. The Modicon, Altivar, and Magelis series controller families included in this solution can be used in a variety of filling and packaging machines, as well as feeding and handling tasks based upon classic PLC designs, either with or without positioning and servo applications.

The PacDrive 3 system, which constitutes the fourth pillar of MachineStruxure, is the technological flagship at interpack. The new generation of this proven automation technology, which unifies PLC, IT, and motion functionalities on a single hardware platform, is setting trends in a number of aspects: The use of SERCOS III gives the system a powerful, internationally accepted, Ethernet-based bus solution that also offers integrated safety communication. Corresponding safety controllers as well as components for creating safe I/O systems are already available. With the imminent introduction of integrated ILM series servo drives as a counterpart to the highly successful iSH drives from the previous PacDrive M generation, the PacDrive 3 system will be enhanced to include all key components for innovative automation solutions with up to 99 servo axes or up to 30 robots.
